If your restaurant is interested in taking steps to support Earth Hour and contribute to the fight against climate change, there are several excellent ideas you could consider. We encourage businesses to become sustainability leaders, to set the bar high and lead by example. With your help, we can work together to achieve a sustainable planet.

Earth Hour in 4 Easy Steps:

* Tell us about your planned Earth Hour action(s) here

** Send us photos and videos of your Earth Hour actions at info@avs-sustainability.com

1. Turn off non-essential lights at 8:30pm Saturday, 25th March 2023 for one hour. Switch to minimal lighting throughout your premises, however, remember your occupational health and safety policy. If any internal lights cannot be turned off, please try to dim them as much as possible.

2. Display a sign in your window or on your door to invite your customers to join you on the evening of Earth Hour. Consider placing reminders about Earth Hour on tables, in the toilets, and at the bar.

3. As customers call or email to make reservations, make sure to promote your participation in Earth Hour.

4. Host a special candle-lit dinner featuring an Earth Hour themed menu that highlights sustainable and locally-sourced food. You can also find Earth Hour climate-friendly recipes here.

5. Why not host an Earth Hour Happy Hour? Between 8:30 and 9:30 pm, consider offering discounted or half-priced drinks to your customers.

6. Provide a variety of “no-cook” or “raw” menu options that don’t require any energy for preparation.

7. Create a unique “dark” cocktail and offer it as a complimentary drink to customers upon their arrival.

8. Make sure to share information about Earth Hour on your restaurant’s website and Social Media (please use #TimeOutForNature #SwitchOff #EarthHour hashtags) or any other online platforms where your restaurant is listed.

9. Consider inviting local artists or musicians to perform acoustic “unplugged” music in your restaurant, providing guests with entertainment while they enjoy their dinner by candlelight.

10. Make Earth Hour a VIP night at your restaurant and extend invitations to valued customers or frequent visitors, offering them the opportunity to partake in this special event that occurs once a year.

Please remember to take photos and videos of your Earth Hour event for your website and Social Media. Please share these with AVS Sustainability at info@avs-sustainability.com, if you’d like to be a part of our “Businesses that care” – Earth Hour video compilation. It’s free!
